Te Ara Reo week 1

As part of my Domestic Reo quest I have enrolled in a Te Reo Maori course – “Te Ara Reo Maori” through Te Wananga o Aotearoa.  Since I have previously completed some courses through another wananga, and subject to acceptance of my Recognition of Prior Learning, I will be enrolled in the second year, called Level 4.

Our first night was ‘whakawhanaungatanga‘ – where we each got to know each other by way of our mihimihi and our pepeha (ancestral and land connections).  In essence we all connect with each other through whanau (family) or whenua (land).  Or we connect together through common purpose. Like any class, there is Mahi-a-kainga (homework).  Our homework from the first night was to think about our purpose.  When it is August, cold, and there is a hot dinner waiting at home, it is our purpose that will keep us returning to class.

[I have set up a Te-Ara-Reo Maori category to post notes, observations, or homework from this Te Ara Reo course.]
